Image labelling
In this quiz activity, users drag-and-drop labels to the points on an image. The author uploads the image, authors labels and plots them onto the image.
What are the benefits of this activity and when might I use it?
Image labelling allows you to create interactive and engaging activities where learners can pinpoint specific areas on an image to recognise and label. This can be applied in various educational scenarios, such as anatomy diagrams, geographical features, vocabulary acquisition, or process visualization. Incorporating image alongside text can be a powerful tool for supporting memory of key terms and definitions.

How many labels can I author?
There is no limit on the number of labels you can author but it’s good to be mindful to give labels adequate room to aid with usability.
Can I decide how many marks this activity is worth?
Yes, you have two options. You can give the activity one mark in total. This means users must assign all the labels correctly to achieve the mark. Alternatively, you can give users a mark for each label they pinpoint correctly. The number of marks the activity is worth depends on the total number of correct labels.
Things to be aware of:
- The labels you author will appear above the image in the activity in a random order.
- The order you author labels (1, 2, 3…), will be represented in the image drop-areas.
- Hotspot position is controlled using x and y coordinates. When configuring these, use the hotspot preview to guide you.
